The official response from the Council can read below:-
Petition concerning the retention of Service 6a/b in the Glebe Road area
I refer to the petition received by the Council on 8 November 2010 concerning maintaining the operation of service 6a/b along Glebe Road, Laburnum Road and Mayfair Road. This section of route is currently provided by Arriva under contract to the Council. As a supported bus service, it is affected by the ongoing review of the Council’s budgets in which a £100,000 reduction in the budget for supported bus services has been proposed. The Council is currently consulting on what criteria local people think decisions about supported bus services should be based on. This consultation process includes Talking Together events as well as impact assessment meetings.
No decision has been taken by the Council’s Cabinet concerning the criteria. It is expected that they will do so at their meeting in February, where the petition will be taken into account in the overall considerations regarding the Council’s budget proposals.
